As in the ”Hønsestrik” (Fair Isle knitting) movement of the 1970s, I have created motifs for the current struggle.
I often refer to ”Hønsestrik” as quiet activism. It is a style of knitting that allows us to express our attitudes and wear them on our bodies as a clear signal to the outside world. And it is precisely the fight for Greenland and the rights of Greenlanders that is close to my heart, which I would like to support with this headband.
You will not receive a step-by-step pattern to follow, as ”Hønsestrik” is all about playing freely with yarn and motifs. So, you should choose the motifs that are important to you, but you are of course welcome to take inspiration from my headband. You can also choose to find other motifs, or perhaps insert text that expresses something you want to emphasise.
